Why After Sun Care Needed a Rethink
A Note From Our Founder, Inge Frey
What happens to skin after sun exposure?
You know that moment when you’ve come inside after a day outdoors? The warmth, the dryness… and your skin feels thirsty for hydration and support. Heavy night creams can feel like too much, too soon. And aloe? Comforting at first, but sometimes not enough on its own.
That’s exactly what Frey Skin is here for. An after sun treatment designed for those in between hours, yet complete enough to stand alone at night when sun stressed skin needs extra care.
Ingredients that support skin after sun
Phenoliva Active 10 → our olive derived antioxidant that helps counteract sun induced oxidative stress and supports a healthier looking complexion.
Aloe + Vitamin B5 → soothe sun warmed skin and dryness while supporting hydration and barrier recovery.
Is after sun necessary if you wear SPF?
Sunscreen is essential. But even when you apply it properly, skin can still feel warm, tight, or dehydrated after time outdoors.
Whether you wore sunscreen or not, Frey Skin steps in to soothe, hydrate, and support skin in the hours after sun.
Why Did I Start Frey Skin?
Frey Skin began with a feeling that could not be ignored and a dream.
After time in the sun, even with sunscreen, my skin often felt dehydrated and off balance. Maybe not burned, but tight, warm, and stressed in a way that lingered long after applying aloe.
I searched specifically for an after sun product that went beyond surface soothing. Most formulas stopped at temporary cooling, or felt too heavy for skin that already felt delicate.
Frey Skin was created to go further. We focus on what skin needs in the hours after sun exposure, when oxidative stress, hydration loss, and barrier disruption can build, even when you wore SPF.
That is where our formula comes in. Thoughtful care that helps skin feel calm, replenished, and balanced after the sun.
How Did I Do It?
I know what some of you are thinking. You’re not a chemist, dermatologist, or skincare formulator… how can you start a skincare brand?
The thing is: I’m not trying to be. I’m the project manager. 🤓
I spent the last few years digging into what really happens to skin after time outdoors. I read the research, took formulation courses, searched for the right ingredients, and partnered with an EU based lab whose chemists handle the formulation, stability testing, and safety assessments.
And sourcing? We go straight to producers.
One of my favorites is a Swiss company, Gaia Tech, using green technology to upcycle olive water, normally a by-product of olive oil production, into hydroxytyrosol, the key antioxidant in our formula. I am planning a visit to their olive groves and facility next year, I cannot wait.
The Bigger Picture
So no, I’m not the chemist. (Though I would love to be.)
I’m the one bringing together the science, the partners, and the vision.
Because your skin deserves more than temporary comfort.
And because life is short. If there is a dream to chase, why not go for it?
Thank you for being here at the very beginning. Your support truly means the world.
